365Daily – The media adviser to Peter Obi, the former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Val Obienyem, has debunked claims that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested his principal and his wife, Margaret.
In a statement released on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Obienyem dismissed the news as a rumour which first surfaced on Saturday, but was promptly refuted. He noted that despite this, the false narrative has continued to spread.
According to Obienyem, Obi was in Rwanda at the time of the alleged incident. He added that the rumour was aimed at misleading the public and causing unnecessary panic among his supporters.
“As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda attending to important engagements.
“He has since returned to Nigeria and is currently in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national matters.
“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” he stated.
The aide urged the public to disregard the falsehood and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation, while assuring that Obi will continue to focus on his commitment to the nation, while his team remains steadfast in providing accurate updates on his activities.
