365Daily – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has felicitated young Nigerians on the occasion of the 2024 Children’s Day.
Nigeria marks the Children’s Day on May 27 of every year.
Speaker Abbas, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, on Monday, May 27, 2024, harped on the need for better welfare and protection of the Nigerian child by both the government, parents, guardians, teachers, clerics, and other stakeholders.
He noted tthat raising children is a collective task that should be taken up by the entire society and not just the parents to ensure that they are given proper upbringing.
While decrying the high number of out-of-school children, the Speaker noted that the 10th House is doing everything legislatively possible to ensure that every child is educated in Nigeria.
He, therefore, called on the government at all levels to make the Nigerian children have unfettered access to education, while urging parents to support authorities in this regard.
Speaker Abbas commended the state governments that have domesticated and are enforcing the Child Rights Act, while urging others to take the bold step. He noted that the law, if fully implemented by all stakeholders, will have a huge positive impact on the lives of young Nigerians.
Speaker Abbas wished Nigerian children happy celebrations, while urging them to shun all forms of vices.
