365Daily -Troops under Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued a soldier and a civilian who were previously abducted by criminal elements in Zamfara State.
The rescue followed a military operation carried out in the Gwashi area, as troops intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts and improve security across the state.
According to information released by the military, the operation led to the safe recovery of Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who had been kidnapped along the Zuru Anka route a week earlier. Also rescued was Lauwali Dan Ada, a resident of Kasahola Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area.
Following their recovery, both individuals were taken to a secure military location where they received medical attention and underwent routine debriefing procedures.
Military authorities described the rescue as part of ongoing operations aimed at tracking down criminal groups and securing communities across the North West region.
Operation Fansan Yamma reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on armed groups operating in the region, stressing that efforts to protect civilians and rescue victims of abduction will continue.
