365Daily – A former Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has said that rescuing Nigeria from the shackles of current leadership failure in 2023 supersedes any other interest or agenda.

He cautioned members of the PDP to be wary of public utterances and statements that could enflame passions and inflict further cracks within the ranks of the party.

Onaiwu, who is also the chairman of Senator Bukola Saraki Campaign Organisation, made this call in Abuja against the backdrop of the visible disillusionment in some quarters in the party since the emergence of the party’s presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, respectively.

According to him, with the challenges Nigeria is currently facing, party leaders must stand united with all hands on deck to ensure that the PDP is well positioned to achieve electoral victory in order to salvage the country from destructive hands of the APC, come 2023.

While insisting that no one wins a battle with a divided house, Onaiwu urged the PDP’s presidential candidate to, as a matter of urgency, convene a meeting of all PDP presidential aspirants to give them a sense of belonging and inclusivity in order to chart a way forward to end the lingering squabbles that emanated since the party’s special national convention in May.

Onaiwu further stressed that only a united PDP stands a chance of dislodging the behemoth that is the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He pleaded with leaders who have benefitted from the party not to tear down it down with either their actions or utterances.

“The task before us now, which is to rescue Nigeria from APC supersedes any other agenda and interest as far as the PDP is concerned,” he said.
