Organ harvesting allegation: Ekweremadu remains in custody as court adjourns to Oct. 31

365Daily – Immediate past Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has been sent back to British police custody after his appearance in court over alleged organ harvesting and human trafficking charges.

The Lawmaker and his wife,  Beatrice Ekweremadu, had been arrested for sponsoring an underaged Nigerian boy to the United Kingdom to provide a kidney for their daughter, Sonia.

It was later discovered that the alleged victim was 21 and not 15 years old is as alleged but the couple remained in custody. Mrs Ekweremadu was later released under stringent bail conditions.

They both denied the allegations when they appeared before the Uxbridge magistrates’ court in London, United Kingdom.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Adamu Bulkachuwa, was in court to show support for Ekweremadu.

Hearing on the case has been adjourned to October 31, 2022.
