365Daily – Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Baruten Local Government of Kwara State have hailed the decision of the leadership and the state party executives to zone the 2023 Governorship slot to the northern part of the state.
In a statement jointly signed by Alhaji Sani Boriya, Hon. Adamu Usman, Hon. Hashim Mora and Hon. Idris Garba on Monday, December 20, 2021, they also thanked the leader of the party in the state, former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, for the move.
It stated: “We the Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders in Baruten Local Government applaud the decision of our party, our leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and all Kwara State stakeholders for zoning the Governorship ticket to Kwara North.”
They expressed optimism that “it is a right decision taken at the right time and it will further strengthen the relationship between Kwara North and other senatorial districts.”
The stakeholders continued: “It would be recalled that the agitation for power shift has been on since 2011, after the completion of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s tenure, but as God would have it, we were unable to clinch the ticket until now and it is an indication that PDP is going for victory come 2023.
“We believe that our good brothers and sisters from Kwara South and Kwara Central are going to reciprocate the support and love we have been offering to them in 2023 because it is going to be a collective Agenda as Kwara North cannot do it alone.”
They expressed appreciation to Kwara North Stakeholders for “been focused and committed inspite of every divisive tendencies and challenges,” while assuring of their belief in the united pursuit of the power Rotation Agenda and beyond to “coast our great party to victory come 2023.”
“Baruten Local Government PDP stakeholders are assuring Kwarans of our total support on this agenda and we shall intensify every measure to sensitise our people at the grassroots on the importance of having Kwara State Governor from Kwara North, to mitigate the infrastructural deficit of the zone,” the Kwara North Stakeholders assured.
