The management of Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa in Nasarawa State, has expelled two students for being involved in secret cult activities.
The is contained in a statement signed by the Director of Information, Publicity and Protocol of the institution, Malam Mana in Nasarawa on Wednesday.
It said the expulsion of the students was to serve as deterrent to others and for the overall development of the institution and the education sector at large.
“The arrest of the students was made by the security operatives of the polytechnic, coupled with an investigative report and the confession made by the affected students that they belonged to the unlawful group.
“They are hereby expelled from the institution,” the statement said.
It also said that the Rector of the Institution, Dr Abdullahi Alhassan-Ahmed, had affirmed the expulsion of the students.
The statement said the affirmation was in line with the provision of Section 20.4 (e) of the institution’s Students’ Hand Book, 2018.
The management had vowed to deal decisively with any student found indulging in examination malpractice, drug abuse, cultism and other negative acts. (NAN)
