365Daily – Uduak Akpan, the suspected killer of Akwa Ibom job seeker, Iniubong Umoren, has pleaded guilty to her murder.

Akpan, however, entered the not guilty plea for the rape charge.

The suspect was arraigned before an Uyo High Court, alongside his father, on Monday, July 26, 2021.

365Daily recalls that Umoren was raped and killed in April, 2021, after she was lured by Akpan, who posed as a job recruiter, to his residence located on the outskirts of the state capital.

Her remains were later discovered in a shallow grave by Akwa Ibom State police after her friend raised the alarm over her disappearance on Twitter.

The Police later arrested Akpan and described him as a serial rapist.

During an interview, he confessed to killing the deceased after having “consensual” sex with her.

He said she had gotten angry and bit his ring finger after he attempted to remove the condom he wore during the sex session and used a stabilizer to hit him on his head.

“While I was bleeding, in a bid to stop her, I used the same stabiliser to hit her. She fell and started bleeding,” he stated.
