Boko Haram launches multiple attacks as Service Chiefs visit Borno

Security agents on Sunday suffered casualty in the hands of suspected members of the Boko Haram sect along the Maiduguri-Magumeri road in Borno State on Sunday during the familiarization visit of the new Service Chiefs to Governor Babagana Zulum.

According to report, the insurgents attacked a military base, a police checkpoint, killing one police officer and two members of the Civilian JTF as they set ablaze a police van ablaze and drove away with one.

The report quoted a member of the Civilian JTF as saying some soldiers were equally injured during the military base attack.

It was said that the suspected Boko Haram fighters stationed three gun trucks between Chabol and Magumeri and then fired at the affected military base.

Meanwhile, Borno State Governor at the Government House, Maiduguri, the state capital, received the newly appointed service chiefs; Major General Lucky Irabor, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Rear Admiral AZ Gambo and Air Vice Marshal IO Amao.

Speaking on behalf of the others, the Chief of Defence Staff, Irabor said they will do their best to ensure victory on all forms of insurgency currently witnessed in the area, and pleaded with Nigerians to support them in winning the fight.

In his response, Borno Governor thanked the Service Chiefs for the visit and pledged his commitment to always give the security forces the needed supports towards getting rid of all security challenges in the state.
