Police disburse N74.4m life assurance to families of 143 fallen officers in Abuja

The presentation formed part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued efforts to support families of personnel who lost their lives while serving the nation

The FCT Police Command has presented Group Life Assurance cheques worth N74.42 million to the next of kin of 143 police officers who died in the line of duty.

The cheques, totaling N74,424,762.05, were presented by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, at the Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

Adeh said the presentation formed part of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued efforts to support families of personnel who lost their lives while serving the nation.

She said the initiative also reflected the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the welfare of police personnel and the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Sanusi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and commended the sacrifices made by the fallen personnel in the service of the country.

He assured the families of the Force’s continued support, stressing that the contributions and sacrifices of the fallen officers would remain remembered.

The Commissioner said the financial assistance was part of the Police Force’s responsibility to honour the memory of its fallen personnel while providing support to the families they left behind.
