The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA) branch, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the Kebbi State Government and the university’s Governing Council, warning of an indefinite strike if its demands remain unresolved.
In a statement released on Sunday, the union, through its Chairperson, Dr. Isah Musa Fakai, and Branch Secretary, Dr. Gado A.A., expressed dissatisfaction over what it described as the authorities’ failure to address longstanding concerns affecting the institution.
Among the key demands are the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government–ASUU agreement and the resolution of other welfare and administrative issues involving the university.
The union said the ultimatum, which took effect on July 31, will expire on August 13, 2026. It warned that failure by the Kebbi State Government and the university management to meet its demands within the period would leave its members with no option but to embark on an indefinite industrial action.
According to ASUU, several rounds of discussions with the university’s Governing Council, the state government and other relevant stakeholders have failed to produce any meaningful outcome.
The union maintained that it had exhausted all avenues for dialogue and urged the authorities to take urgent steps to address its grievances and avert a disruption of academic activities at the university.
