Following ongoing party congresses preparatory to party primaries across the country, Kebbi state chapter of inter party advisory council ( IPAC) has called on patties yet to conduct congress and those who concluded to ensure strict compliance with guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Electoral Acts in order to strengthen internal democracy.
The Kebbi Chairman of IPAC, Faruku Garba, in a statement on Wednesday stated that prompt, genuine and impartial party congresses are litmus taste to genuine and impartial primary polls.
According to him, good leaders produced through fair congresses are vehicle parties can use to strengthen internal democracy and lead to success during polls, warning that shady congresses attracts litigations that will jorpadise parties success at the polls and bring rancour in democracy.
“We watch closely as events unfolds in political parties congresses even as we admonish them to ensure seamless congresses to avoid political rancour or parties may risk being delisted for refusing to follow the laid down rules”.
He commended Kebbi state government under the leadership of Comrade Nasir Idris for providing a level playing field for all political parties to participate in all elections in the state.
