NFF upholds N4m fine against Wikki Tourists for crowd misconduct

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has upheld the fine of N4 million against Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi.

This is contained in a statement signed by the committee’s secretary, Ms Queen Otarakpo, on Wednesday in Bauchi

NAN this followed a protest concerning their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against Katsina United FC played on Feb. 8, 2026, at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium,(ATBS) Bauchi.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the committee after reviewing the protest lodged by Wikki Tourists against sanctions earlier imposed by the league body.

In its findings, the committee held that Wikki Tourists failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, noting that unauthorized persons gained access to restricted areas after the first half.

It also established that supporters of the Bauchi-based club threw dangerous objects, including stones, onto the field of play during the encounter.

The centre referee informed the committee that although he was struck by a stone, he did not sustain any injury.

The committee further stated that there was no evidence to support claims that any match officials or members of the away team were injured during the incident.

The committee concluded that the conduct of the supporters was capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

Based on these findings, the committee upheld a N2 million fine against Wikki Tourists for failure to provide adequate security, while also affirming an additional N1 million fine for unsporting behaviour capable of tarnishing the image of the game.

Another N1 million fine was maintained for the throwing of dangerous objects into the field of play.

However, the committee set aside two other sanctions earlier imposed under the league’s summary jurisdiction for lack of sufficient evidence.

The committee also reduced the earlier sanction directing the club to play all remaining home matches outside Bauchi to a five-match ban, to be served concurrently from the date of the sanction.
