The former Anambra State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Ulasi, has begged the federal government under President Bola Tinubu, to take the risk and release leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and see if the insecurity in the Southeastern Nigeria, orchestrated by unknown gunmen would not stop.
Ulasi who was a guess at AIT flagship programme said during the Yuletide he deliberately drove into the unknown gunmen’s den to see what would happen, and he was accosted by eight men wielding AK47 assault weapons, and they said they are into the act because Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention.
According him, “I deliberately drove into a place in Ihiala local government area which the hotbed of the insecurity in Anambra State and suddenly eight men came out and stopped me. They asked me to come out of the car and I did.
“Later, one of them came out and identified me as Chief Dan Ulasi; he said they used to watch me on the television speaking about the Southeast, and they said I was a former Biafran soldier, I said yes.
“I asked them, why are you doing what you are doing, and they said it is because their leader Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention and they don’t feel they are still part of Nigeria”.
Chief Dan Ulasi made a bet that once Nnamdi Kanu is being released, definitely insecurity in the southeast will subside.
Ulasi said the court of appeal had discharged and acquitted Nnamdi Kanu, and the Supreme Court was almost doing same, before they ordered that the trial should start all-over at the high court.
Talking about the arrested Simon Ekpa who is Finland, Ulasi lamented that a lot of people commit crimes under the guise that Nnamdi Kanu is being held, and they use it for their selfish gains.
He said, he pleaded with the unknown gunmen to give peace a chance and stop causing insecurity in the region.
