Benue State government has expressed determination to fight criminality to a halt following rising cases of crime in the state especially of recent.
Special Adviser to the Benue state governor on security and strategic liaison, Col Alexander Ashungu who made the disclosure during an interview in Makurdi, emphasized that government intends to spare no one irrespective of position, either government or political that is found perpetrating criminality.
Anshungu advised that any member of the public who suspects any false movement, gathering and none authorized persons bearing arms particularly in rural forest should report with immediate effect for investigation and further actions, assuring that government has been working round the clock to ensure safety of inhabitants and their businesses.
“As we speak, a number of kidnapped victims have been rescued “, Anshungu pointed out, adding that government is going after those perpetrating such evil crimes in the state.
The special adviser who acknowledged the good work the police and the armed forces are doing to maintain security and peace in the state, equally, commended governor Hyacinth Alia for placing security of lives and property on priority list of government but lamented the general upsurge in Kidnapping and herdsmen attacks on innocent citizens across the country.

It could be recalled that renewed cases of criminality has resurfaced in the state of recent with latest being the kidnapping of caretaker committee chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Gideon Haanongon and three others on their way to the burial of Ter Katsina-ala HRH Fezanga Wombo in Katsina-ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
