Unknown gunmen threaten to unleash mayhem on schools reciting national anthem, pledge

By Deborah Hassan

365Daily– Posters have emerged all over Onitsha, Anambra State, notifying residents to desist from reciting the national anthem and pledge or face the wrath of unknown gunmen.

The posters signed by “one man squared (sic) commander” warned that only the Biafran anthem should be recited in schools and institutions in “Biafran land” henceforth.

According to the notice, failure to comply with the directive would lead to shutting down the school and bring the owner “to justice.”

Furthermore, the poster warned residents to comply with the sit at home order on Mondays or any day that there is a court hearing (presumably on days Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is due in court) or be “severely dealt with.”

In addition, tricycle riders, touts and organisations were equally ordered to sit at home to avoid their “wrath.”

Finally, all arms bearing security officials were informed that they should drop their arms as it is only gunmen that are allowed “to beqr arms in Biafra land.”
