365Daily – The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over the rising state of insecurity in the state.
365Daily recalls that the Federal Government on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, threatened to declare a state of emergency in the state to address security challenges and create a safe environment for governorship elections to hold on November 6, 2021.
Governor Obiano, during the visit to the President on Thursday, gave a brief on actions being taken to address the security situation in Anambra, it was learnt.
The decision of the Federal Government to consider imposing emergency rule in the state may be due to concerns raised by major stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over violent attacks on individuals and government facilities in the state.
There have been reported cases of alleged politically motivated assassinations and destruction of government owned facilities in the state.
