365Daily – The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) took a fresh turn on Tuesday as its purported Director General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to constitute an independent panel to investigate the matter, while alleging that his life is under threat.

Adeyemi who has become the central figure in the ongoing controversy, maintained that he is willing to cooperate fully with any credible investigation.

However, he argued that a broader independent panel involving relevant stakeholders would inspire greater public confidence than relying solely on an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

According to him, recent developments surrounding the controversy have raised serious concerns about his personal safety. He claimed to have received threats and urged the Federal Government to ensure his protection while the investigation continues.

The PFIPC controversy has generated widespread public attention following allegations that the organisation operated under the guise of a federal agency despite questions over its legal status. The matter has also drawn scrutiny over reports of budgetary allocations linked to the body, prompting calls for transparency and accountability.

The ICPC has since commenced an investigation into the allegations surrounding the organisation. The anti corruption agency is expected to determine the circumstances under which the council operated and whether any public funds were unlawfully obtained or utilised.

As investigations continue, political observers have stressed the need for due process, noting that all allegations should be thoroughly examined and every individual involved should be afforded the opportunity to present their case in accordance with the law.

The latest appeal by Adeyemi adds another dimension to a controversy that has become one of the country’s most closely watched political issues, with many Nigerians awaiting the outcome of the ongoing investigations and any further action by the Federal Government.
