365Daily – The national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Seriake Dickson, has disclosed that he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have resolved issues that recently generated concerns within the party, urging members to end internal disputes and focus on the party’s broader objectives.
Dickson made this known after hosting Obi and other leaders of the party at a closed-door meeting that lasted about three hours.
The Bayelsa West senator said the meeting reviewed the activities of the NDC and addressed recent developments that had become a source of concern among stakeholders.
According to him, all the issues discussed were amicably resolved.
“We reviewed the activities of our party and discussed a few recent issues that have been a source of concern to all sides, and we amicably resolved all the issues,” he said.
Dickson described Obi as his “brother, colleague and partner in the New Nigerian Project,” stressing that both men remained committed to the party’s vision despite recent disagreements.
He said the leaders were united on what he described as the bigger goal of winning elections and rescuing Nigeria from the misgovernance of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
The senator acknowledged that a number of issues had emerged within the party in recent times but said agreements had been reached on how they would be managed going forward.
He therefore appealed to party members to stop engaging in public quarrels and name-calling, warning that such actions could undermine the party’s collective mission.
“I want to use this opportunity again to call on all members of our party to stop the bickering and name-calling and focus on the bigger picture,” Dickson said.
He added that he, Obi and other leaders and stakeholders of the party would continue consultations and engagements aimed at resolving concerns, strengthening unity and cohesion, and keeping the party focused on its shared objectives.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by party stakeholders to manage internal disagreements and consolidate the party ahead of future political contests.
Dickson concluded his message by extending Democracy Day greetings to Nigerians and reiterating the commitment of the party’s leaders to building a stronger opposition platform.
