A widow, Mrs. Mercy Agbo, native of Neke Community in Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State has recounted how her right leg broke into two in a very mysterious manner.
Mercy who lives at Pigba Sama Community near the popular Apo Mechanic Village of Abuja said everything happened to her like a movie when she discovered that the bone connecting her heel with her knee suddenly broke into two without any cause.
According to her, “It happened on 29th of March, 2026, around 10pm when I wanted to go into my room and sleep, as I stood up and attempted to stretch my body, before I knew, my leg was broken. Neighbours came out and lifted me”.
On whether she was having any pain before the unfortunate incidence, Mercy said, “I was not feeling any pain; I even went to the church that day, because it was on a Sunday. I did every other chore that same day”.
When she was asked if anyone was able to identify the cause of her predicament, Mercy said, “People have said different things; some said it was spiritual, others said it was an attack, but a medical practitioner suggested it could be caused by lack of calcium. Though he did not conduct any medical investigation, he speculated that it could be due to lack of calcium”.
On how she is coping with her two children, have lost her husband some years ago, Mercy said used to fry beans cake locally called akara in front of her house, to fend for the family, but her present condition has rendered her incapacitated, leaving her at the mercy of good-spirited neighbours.
Speaking on the chances of her children returning to school at the moment, she said she has lost hope, and that it can only take a miracle for such to happen, because she cannot provide food for the children, how much more, to pay their school fees.
Mercy Agbo is currently lying effortlessly at home where she is being attended to by a traditional bone-setter who was contracted by some neighbours to take care of the situation, and she is calling on people of goodwill to come to her rescue so that hunger will not take away her life or that of her two children.
“Some neighbours have been assisting me with food, and some with the money. I don’t know how children will continue with their education”, Mercy said.
