Former presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu has resigned his membership of the party and indicated interest to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the PDP has been hijacked by antidemocratic element both from within and without.
In a letter dated July 17, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu announced his immediate departure from the party.
According to Momodu, “Our party has undeniably been seized by antidemocratic elements, both from within and without, in broad daylight.
“It is therefore honorable to relinquish the remains of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly align with the new coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
His defection to the ADC signifies a significant shift in Edo State’s political landscape and contributes momentum to the ongoing realignments preceding the 2027 general elections.
Momodu had joined the PDP in 2021 and actively engaged in national debates and party affairs.
