365Daily – The Acting Director of Defence Information in the Ministry of Defence, Brig Gen Tukur Vusau, has disclosed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, His Royal Highness, Prince Harry and wife, Meghan, will visit Nigeria in May 2024.

In a statement issued on Monday, April 29, 2024, Vusau said “the visit is to consolidate Nigeria’s strong hold at the (Invictus) game and the possibility of hosting the  event in later  years.”

The Duke of Sussex established the Invictus Games, an international multisport competition that provides a rehabilitation route for sick, injured, and wounded service members worldwide.

It also gives soldiers awareness and recognition in society to support their path in rehabilitation.

About 500 participants were at the last outing, with 21 nations in attendance, including Nigeria, returned home with gold and silver medals.

The duo are scheduled to interact with members of the Armed Forces and participate in a variety of cultural events during their stay.

The statement added that “the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, who was at Germany at last year’s event, has accepted to host the games when granted to  Nigeria.”

It further disclosed that on May 8, the 39-year-old Harry will attend the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and soon after, joined by Meghan, they will visit Nigeria.
