365Daily – The Kano State High Court has issued an ex parte order on the suspension of the embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Gandujem from the party.
Issued on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Justice Usman Malam Na’abba also barred the ex-Kano State Governor from presiding over any activity of APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad, representing the executive committee of APC in Ganduje Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State who were part of a group of nine ward executives who earlier announced Ganduje’s suspension from the party on Monday., had filed the ex parte motion.
In its ruling. the court, in an interim injunction, directed all parties involved, including the APC, its NWC, Kano State Working Committee of the party, and Ganduje himself, to maintain the status quo as of April 15, 2024, pending a full hearing on the matter set for April 30.
He further ordered the Kano State Working Committee of the APC to stay away from the decision of the Ganduje Ward executives of the party, endorsed by a two-third majority as stipulated by the party’s constitution.
A party member from Ganduje’s polling unit had acted on a petition by one of its members, urging them to investigate the accusations bribery and corruption against Ganduje, to protect the party’s image and President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption efforts.
It was reported that the ward chairman and secretary failed to act on the petition filed on April 8, prompting the nine members, led by the legal adviser, to pronounce Ganduje’s suspension.
Reacting, the state working committee of the party accused the ward executives of anti-party activities and suspended them for six months.
On its part, the national APC described the development as the devious act of impostors.
