365Daily – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has been suspended from the party.
The suspension was announced by the Chairman of APC Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano State, ward’s legal adviser, Halliru Gwanzo.
Gwanzo, who made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Kano on Monday, April 15, 2024, cited allegations of bribery levelled against Ganduje by the Kano State Government as the reason for the suspension.
He stated, “We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him.”
Gwanzo added that the suspension subsists until he is cleared of all the allegations.
Ganduje and six others will be arraigned before the Kano State High Court 4 on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, on charges bothering on allegations of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including the purported acceptance of $413,000 and N1.38bn in bribes, brought against him by Kano State Government.
Also to be arraigned alongside the embattled APC chairman are Prof. Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.
The ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the state had last week inaugurated two Commissions of Inquiry to probe Ganduje’s eight-year tenure and electoral violence and killings in the State within the same period.
NNPP is led by Ganduje’s predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is a political rival. Ganduje succeeded Kwankwaso as governor of Kano Dtate after serving as his deputy for full two terms of eight years.
