Akwa Ibom State government has expressed great displeasure over the haste burial conducted for the late Ms. Abigael Edith Frederick, a make-up artist who died in the boat mishap that claimed lives of some Nollywood actors and crew members.
Governor Umo Eno a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, on Saturday, saying the state government was not informed before the burial was conducted where she died, that is, on their way to a movie location.
According to the statement, “We have also followed and read the reportage, especially on the social media platforms surrounding her burial and wish to state categorically that, government was not informed of the circumstances that led to her burial.
“His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, has consequently directed that her body be brought back to her family for a proper and decent burial”.
The government also sympathized with families of all those who lost their lives in that unfortunate mishap, “We are deeply saddened by her painful passing and on behalf of the Government and people of AKwa Ibom State, we sympathize with her family, the Nollywood community and her friends and colleagues over this sad loss”.
Akwa Ibom State Government described Ms. Abigael Edith Frederick as a quintessential example of young people who have harkened to the clarion call for them to arise and shine.
She was a 24 years old graduate of Theatre Arts, who had found her passion as a make-up artiste.
Pastor Umo Eno has also visited the family house of the late Nollywood make-up artist in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, where he consoled the bereaved family.
The Governor gave an automatic employment in the State Civil Service to the elder sister of the deceased and also renovate their family house.
