Sokoto govt vows to clamp down on hoarding, smuggling of foodstuffs

The Sokoto State Chairman of Taskforce Committee on Hoarding And Smuggling of Food, Alhaji Sidi Mamman has vowed to deal with anyone found hoarding food in the state.

He gave the warning on Monday while addressing newsmen on the activities of the Committee.

He said the patriotic assignment given to them by the state government must be carried out according to the terms of references contained therein.

Sidi proved no active or responsible religion supports hoarding or smuggling of foodstuffs to another places while citizens around those who tilted their farmlands are in dare need.

“Hoarding is another form of corruption, and fighting against corruption is a key to good governance, growth and development of the nation.

“Similarly, we the entire members of the committee promised to clamp down on warehouses and stores engaged in hoarding foodstuffs and commodities and those who are engaged in actions aimed at compounding the current hardships being faced by high cost of living to desist or face the wrath of laws contained in smuggling”, averred the chairman.

He commended the state government under the leadership of Ahmad Aliyu and APC leader in the state for finding them eligible for the assignment.
