Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has expressed readiness of his administration to partner the church in the state to bring about positive development especially in the rural areas.
Governor Alia who spoke at Church of Assumption Catholic Church, Nege- Ateku in Mbatiav, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State during the celebration of a new rectory and fund-raising ceremony for the building of residential accommodation for the priest in charge of the rectory, acknowledged contributions of the church towards community development and urged it to sustain the spirit.
The governor represented at the occasion by the speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajo, assured Mbatiav people and the entire state that his administration was committed to supporting the church at all times and appealed for their support for his administration to succeed.
Speaking in his capacity as the speaker Benue State House of Assembly, Dajoh promised that the tenth assembly would continue to enact quality laws that would create favourable environment for government and the private sector to operate and thanked the Catholic Church for the much it was doing for the betterment of the society.
In a remarks, chairman of the occasion and Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dennis Akura praised the pivotal role of the church in moulding moral values and called on individuals and groups to always find reasons to support the propagation of the gospel.
In a welcome speech chairman central planning committee Titus Atondu expressed appreciation to governor Hyacinth Alia on behalf Mbatiav people for identifying with them and commended the governor for starting on a sound note, expressing optimism that he would do even better in the remaining years.
