EFCC declares Emefiele’s wife, three others wanted

She and three other persons are wanted for allegedly conspiring with the former CBN governor to defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria.

365Daily – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Mrs Margaret Dumbiri Emefiele, wife of the embattled ex-governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, wanted.

She and three other persons are wanted for allegedly conspiring with the former CBN governor to defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria by converting huge sums of its money for themselves.

The others are Eric Odoh, Anita Omoile and Jonathan Omoile.

According to the anti-graft agency, the suspects committed felony to “obtaining money by false pretences and stealing contrary to and punishable under Sections 411. 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.“

365Daily recalls that Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June, 2023 and taken I to custody by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on illegal possession of firearms at a Federal High Court in Lagos and granted bail in the sum of N20m.

The two-count charge was later dropped while a fresh 20-count charge bordering on fraudulent procurement and conspiracy were brought against him.

In October, he was arrested and detained by the EFCC just hours after he regained freedom from the DSS.

He is out on bail.
