‘I’m Devastated by Zaria Mosque Collapse’ – Speaker Abbas

365Daily – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has said the loss of his constituents’ lives after a mosque collapsed in Zaria,  Kaduna State is devastating and disheartening.

This is just as he expressed heartfelt condolences to families of the 10 victims who were reported to have died in the incident which occurred on Friday, and the entire people of Kaduna as a whole.

Hon. Abass represents Zaria Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

In a press statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, on Saturday, Mr. Abbas urged authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to the building collapse in order to prevent future reoccurrence, saying: “It is disheartening and devastating that people who went to worship Allah lost their lives in that manner. I pray that Allah (SWT) will grant them eternal rest and reward them with Jannatul Firdaus.”

The century-old mosque collapsed on Friday evening during payers after cracks has been noticed on the wall the previous day.

While praying for speedy recovery for those receiving medical attention,  he said: “My heart bleeds over the unfortunate incident that happened at the Zaria central mosque on Friday, August 11, 2023, during Asr prayer when parts of the mosque collapsed,  leading to the deaths of some of my constituents.

“My thoughts and prayers are with their families and those that sustained injuries during the incident.”
