Missed of penalty kicks by forward Desire Oparanozie and defender Michelle Alozie, today, denied the Super Falcons of Nigeria the chance of proceeding to the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2023 Women World Cup holding at New Zealand and Australia.

The Falcons who held their counterpart from England to a goalless draw for 120 minutes were beaten by 4-2 on penalty kick as the two Nigerian players failed to convert their chances.

Following their defeat, Nigeria has joined their fellow Africans, the Bayana Bayana of South Africa who were eliminated on Sunday.

Alozie plays her professional football at Houston Dash in the USA while Oparanozie plays for Wuhan Jianghan University in China.

Meanwhile, Rasheedat Ajibade and Christy Ucheibe scored their goals while Bethany England, Rachel Daly, Alex Greenwood and Chloe Kelly scored for England.
