365Daily – Two frontline aspirants for the position of the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Hon. Aliyu Betera and Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, have dropped their ambitions and will now support the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
This was announced by the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, after a meeting of the duo with him and President Bola Tinubu on Sunday.
The APC had nominated Abbas for Speaker and Benjamin Kalu for Deputy Speaker of the 10th House, respectively.
However, a group of 7 aspirants including Betera, Gagdi, immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House, Idris Wase and Sani Jaji, disagreed with the arrangement and went ahead to form the G7 group.
Other members of the G7 were Sada Soli, Mariam Onuoha and the immediate past House Leader, Hon. Ado Doguwa, who dropped out of the race weeks ago.
