Tinubu resumes office as president, summons Emefiele, Kyari

The meeting may be connected with the removal of fuel subsidy and the attendant petrol scarcity, unification of foreign exchange and recent naira redesign.

365Daily – President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday spent his first day in office by meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPC), Mele Kyari, at the State House, Abuja.

Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima, were inaugurated as the 16th president of Nigeria at Eagle Square, Abuja, on Monday, May 29, 2023.

The new president arrived at the forecourt of the State House at about 2:30 pm through the quarter guard gate, which is his official entrance gate. He was received by Vice President Shettima; State House Permanent Secretary, Tijjani Umar; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke and and the outgoing Director of Protocol of the State House.

Tinubu is expected to make major appointments today including that of his Chief of Staff, Spokesman, Security Adviser and Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The meeting may be connected with the removal of fuel subsidy and the attendant petrol scarcity, unification of foreign exchange and recent naira redesign.

Recall that President Tinubu had during his inaugural speech announced that petrol subsidy has been removed, leading to long queues at filling stations.
