Alleged murder of Lagos lawyer: ASP Vandi pleads not guilty

365Daily – Suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr. Drambi Vandi, has pleaded not guilty to the alleged killing of a Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem, on Christmas Day.

Vandi is facing a one-count charge of murder under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, brought against him by the Lagos State Government.

He took the plea during his arraignment on Monday, January 16, 2023.

The deceased was alleged to have been shot as she and her family were returning from Christmas service after police officers attached to the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah were said to have ordered the car conveying them to stop.

One of the officers allegedly shot at the car and the bullet was said to have hit the lawyer who was reportedly rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police command spokesperson, had described the incident as, “Unfortunate and avoidable incident.”
