Associates hail Buhari for honouring Senator Odebiyi with national award

Senator Odebiyi’s award is well deserved as it is a lucid testament and unimpeachable endorsement of his performance and achievements as a public servant

365Daily – Friends and associates of Senator Tolu Odebiyi, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for honouring him with the national award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

The amiable Senator made the list of the awardees, who were found worthy of the prestigious national award and recognition by the President.

These select number of great Nigerians, who have made their marks in different fields of endeavours, by making remarkable contributions to the development of the nation, will receive their awards today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

A congratulatory message by a committee of friends, signed by Chief Jerry Nwohu, a policy and political communications expert, described the award as a recognition of the sterling performance and quality contributions on the floor of the Senate by Senator Odebiyi, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committees on the Federal Capital Territory, Marine Transport Committee, and member of several other committees.

According to Nwohu, Senator Odebiyi, who also represents Nigeria at the ECOWAS Parliament, is a man who is consistently driven by a sense of purpose and is genuinely committed to the interest and the wellbeing of his constituents.

Chief Nwohu: “Senator Odebiyi’s award is well deserved as it is a lucid testament and unimpeachable endorsement of his performance and achievements as a public servant, whose sense of service and leadership are anchored on humaneness, honesty and the overall interest of the people.

“As an associate, I have overtime, followed Senator Odebiyi’s leadership trajectory and his undying passion for uplifting the ordinary man. He is also showing good leadership example in transparency and integrity – the two principles that shape great leaders.”

In 2019, he established the Tolu Odebiyi Foundation, whose four primary areas of focus are: Education, Health Care, Youth Welfare and Women/Widows Empowerment. He facilitated several healthcare programmes where he ensured that the Senior Citizens (elders) of his Senatorial District experienced stress-free access to medicare.

He has also sponsored about eight Bills and several motions. Among the Bills sponsored by Odebiyi, are the Bill for an Act to provide for the establishment of the National Burns and Rehabilitation Centre, Ilaro, Ogun state to provide intensive treatment and the rehabilitative needs of burns victims and to train capable hands in the treatment of burns related injuries and for other related matters (SB676).

Another one is the Bill for an Act To Establish The National Institute for Border studies, Imeko, Ogun State which is to provide for teaching, research, instruction and training of students in Border Management and for other Matters Connected Therewith (SB. 266) 2020. It has passed third reading. Among others.
