Newly-promoted Superintendents of Police in zone 5, comprising Edo and Delta have been charged to be considerate while discharging their duties.
AIG Lawan Jimeta, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the zone, gave the charge on Tuesday in Benin, while decorating the promoted officers.
This is contained in a statement on Tuesday by DSP Tijani Momoh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the zone.
According to Momoh, the AIG said that the charge became imperative to forestall the officers being carried away by their promotion and new ranks.
Jimeta was also said to have advised the promoted/decorated officers to always remember that promotion comes from God, and also with added responsibility.
“Therefore redouble your efforts, be considerate to people and be professional in the discharge of your constitutional duties,” Jimeta was quoted as saying.
The AIG, while thanking God Almighty for their promotion, also acknowledged and appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, for recommending the officers for promotion.
He also prayed for God’s guidance, protection and good health for them as they continued to serve the nation.
SP Raphael Ediae, responding on behalf of his colleagues, appreciated the IGP and the Force Management team for finding them worthy of elevation to a higher rank.
He noted that they were aware of the added responsibility coming with their new ranks and pledged to be committed and professional in the discharge of their duties, to make the force proud.
Momoh said 12 newly-promoted Superintendents were decorated with their new ranks during the event. (NAN)
