365Daily – Uduak Frank Akpan, accused of the murder of a young job applicant in Akwa Ibom State, Iniubong Umoren, has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo.
The judgement which lasted over 2 hours was delivered by Justice Bassey Nkanang after finding the accused guilty of rape and murder.
Akpan was taken into custody after his arrest for killing Miss Umoren, a job seeker he lured to his house under the pretense of a job interview. Umoren’s friend had raised the alarm on social media when her friend became incommunicado after getting to Akpan’s house.
Other accused in the case are his father, Mr. Frank Akpan, for being an accessory to murder, and his sister, Bassey Anwan, who was charged with harbouring him in her residence in Calabar.
They were both discharged and acquitted.
