In the heat of the exchange on July 16, 2022, Hon. Kalu was one of the top trending topics, while #NASS is currently trending.

By Deborah Hassan

365Daily – The allegation of adultery levelled against the spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has shot the National Assembly to one of the top trending topics on  Twitter.

The Abia Lawmaker was accused by a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Robinson Uwak, of having an affair with his wife, leading to the breakup of their marriage.

Hon. Kalu has since denied the allegation,  saying he only had a work relationship with Mrs Uwak. He also asked the ex-rep to apologise for the accusation and have the apology published in national dailies which will be circulated to members of the House of Representatives, or face legal action.

Replying to the call for apology, Uwak maintained that he made the accusation based on facts, and as such, would not be retracting it.

The ensuing drama has caught the Nigerians especially on social media. In the heat of the exchange on July 16, 2022, Hon. Kalu was one of the top trending topics, while #NASS is currently trending.

Some of the social media responses were based on the briefing done by Mrs Uwak at the House of Representatives Press Centre, facilitated by the House Spokesman. She disclosed at the briefing that her husband abuses her physically and verbally.
