Confusion over deadly explosion in Kano as 4 reportedly dead

365Daily  – An explosion at Court Road, in Sabon gari of Kano State,  has reportedly claimed four lives.

Early reports from the incident which occurred at 9:30am said it happened in a school, while the government of Kano State said the Tuesday morning explosion did not occur in a school.

According to a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, the incident happened at an animal feed store opposite the school along Aba Road, Sabon Gari area of Fagge local government.

While stating that the cause of the explosion and the damage it had done was yet to be officially ascertained, he added that investigation has since commenced to determine the cause, impact and measures to be taken.

He urged the people of the state, particularly those living in the area, to remain calm as the government, in collaboration with relevant agencies, were working on the matter.

Garba assured that thw government would keep the public abreast on any development and warned people to desist from spreading unsubstantiated news.

The explosion, which occurred near a private secondary school, Winners School, destroyed a residential building and affected part of the school.

The Punch reported that some parents were seen rushing to the scene to rescue their children.

“Where are my children?” one parent shouted.

While some injured schoolchildren have been rescued, others were stranded at the scene before the arrival of emergency responders.

Operatives of the army, police, and NSCDC have taken over the scene.

The National Emergency Management Agency and Fire service operatives were also on the ground trying to rescue victims of the explosion.
