Alaafin of Oyo passed on weeks before conferring chieftaincy title on Speaker Gbajabiamila

365Daily – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, was scheduled to be honoured with a chieftaincy by the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, as part of events to mark his 60th birthday.

The Speaker will turn 60 on June 25.

An invitation card to the event stated that Gbajabiamila was to be conferred with ‘Ààrè Baàşòfin ti ilè Yorùbà’, which means ‘Supreme legislative guide for the Yoruba race’.

The event was scheduled to hold on May 22, at the Alaafin of Oyo’s forecourt in Oyo State.  His royal highness, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi, was to be the royal father of the day, while Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was to grace the occasion as the chairman.

Legendary afrojuju musician, Ebenezer Obey, was to provide entertainment for guests.
