365Daily  – Some unknown gunmen have attacked a continuous voter registration centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at Ihite Uboma in Imo State, shooting a staff of the Commission.

The attackers, who were said to be 12 in number, were shouting, “No election as from today, April 14, 2022”.

They ordered people at the venue to lie down before killing one person, an amateur video showed.

Speaking on AIT Democracy Today programme in the aftermath of the incident, the Director, Public Education of INEC, Mr. Ayodele Aluko, expressed grief over the dastardly act and sympathised with the family of the slain staff.

He encouraged Nigerians not to be deterred  by acts of enemies of the state who are bent on thwarting the electoral process.
