365Daily – The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has spoken up on the death of a gospel singer who was an active member of the choir, Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu.

News of Nwachukwu’s death spread on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Unconfirmed reports say she died from complications of domestic abuse by her husband, Peter Osinachi.

In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, Pastor Enenche explained that the deceased and her husband visited him about 2 to 3 months back with complaints that she had chest pain and respiratory issues. He said he prayee for her but when the symptoms were not abating, he counselled them to seek medical help.

The Pastor added that upon their request, he connected them with the head of the church medical team who in turn linked them up with personnel in Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja, where her medical treatment commenced from.

According to him, she was getting better, from updates he was receiving from the deceased, before he was informed of her passing.

On the issue of domestic violence, he said he was never notified of what was going on in  her marriage. He continued by adding that it was only after the news of domestic violence trailed her death that he started asking questions and people started giving accounts of them witnessing her husband hitting her, even in public.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the late Osinachi’s mother alleged that her daughter was asked to return to her matrimonial home when once she left by pastors from the church.

But Pastor Enenche said in his address that the church is highly intolerant of domestic violence and abuse of spouses and has consistently emphasised it in various messages preached from the pulpit.

In response to critics who questioned why an abuser would be allowed to still fellowship in the church, he noted that even Jesus Christ who was perfect while on earth had Judas Iscariot as one of His disciples.

Buttressing his point, he added that an angel who was dwelling in a sinless heaven could turn to be Satan, the father of all sin.

While expressing their condolences to the family of the deceased, he urged anyone who ia frustrated or distressed to come to the church for help as they are willing to offer help to them.
