Be morally guided, CCB boss advises public servants

The Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau, Prof. Muhammed Isah, has called on public officers to be morally guided with the nation’s wealth.

He gave the advice at a workshop on strict compliance with assets declaration and code of conduct of public officers in Abuja, organised for staff of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency.

Isah, who was represented by Prof. Samuel Ogundare, Federal Commissioner, Education and Advocacy Services of the Bureau, said that the aim of the workshop was to acquaint public office holders on the importance of complying with their code of conduct.

“It is extremely important for the agency to be familiar with asset declaration and code of conduct of public officers.

“This is because public officers are in custody of the wealth of the nation, traditionally, they are supposed to implement the policies using the resources of the nation.

“At the same time, we want to safeguard the resources of the nation so that these resources do not go to the wrong hands.

“We don’t want to go for prosecution without education, that is why we are putting education first so that everybody will be legally aware that ignorance of the law is not excusable.

“But in the moral aspect, we want to see that everybody is fully aware of what they have to do, so that their attitude will change and their disposition to the use of resources will be to the benefit of the nation,” he said.(NAN)
