Soludo moves against IPOB’s stay at-home-order, directs public servants to resume work Mondays

365Daily – Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has directed civil servants in the state to resume duty Mondays, against the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), every Monday.

Since the trial of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, began last year following his extradition to Nigeria, the separatist group has been enforcing a sit-at-home order every Monday, or on the days of his court hearings, in the five states of the South East.

But Governor Soludo, who was recently sworn-in as Governor of Anambra, appears not to be in the mood to tolerate such going forward.

During his inauguration, Soludo had expressed reservation over the approach adopted by IPOB in carrying out their agitations, warning that their actions were hurting the economy of the zone.

In a circular dated March, 25, 2022, signed by the Anambra State Head of Service, Barr. Theodora Igwegbe, Soludo directed that all public servants in the state should henceforth report at their places of work on Mondays.

According to the document, absence from work on Mondays or any other day without approval shall be seen as gross misconduct which shall attract appropriate sanctions.
