The Guild of Theatre Arts Drummers (GOTHAD) on Monday said the guild will miss the late veteran Nollywood Actor, Lari Williams’
priceless counsel.
Isioma Williams, GOTHAD’s Coordinating Chairman, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.
He said that the deceased was a great mentor to the guild and would be missed greatly.
NAN reports that the late Actor died on Sunday after battling with an unknown ailment for long.
He was aged 81.
Williams who said that the deceased was a great man and mentor to the members of the guild, added that his love for the arts especially drumming was second to none.
“Uncle Lari meant a lot to the drumming community and to me personally.
“We will miss his dedication to doing what is right, his words, his priceless counsel and friendship.
“Uncle Lari took me as a son perhaps because of our affinity for drumming or because we share same name “Williams”.
“His physical presence is gone but the lessons he taught us in life will be there for many years to come.
“Uncle Lari certainly contributed in making the world a better place and I think he surely deserves to be immortalised.
“We will miss him and his ever-smiling face while drumming, he is one of my heroes. May his soul find eternal rest,” he said.
NAN reports that Williams until his death was popular for his roles in hit soap operas such as ‘Village Headmaster’, ‘Ripples’, and ‘Mirror in The Sun’.
Williams was a poet, playwright and celebrated actor both in live theatre and on screen, which earned him a prestigious national honour; Member of the Order of the Federal Republic in 2008.
The Nollywood veteran studied journalism at the London School of Journalism.
He then proceeded to study English at Morley College and then drama at the Mountview Theatre School and Stratford E15 Acting School, England to become a professional actor. (NAN)
