FG orders compulsory vaccination for civil servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a directive to all Federal civil servants to ensure compulsory vaccination henceforth before they are permitted into their offices or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test done within 72 hours.

This was contained in a circular made available in Abuja on Friday, November 26 by Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Service of the Federation and copied the various government ministries, departments and parastatals.

According to the circular, “In line with the recommendation of the Committee on COVID-19, Mr. President has approved vaccine mandate policy. All Federal Government employees would therefore be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test done within 72 hours”.

The circular also directed Grade Level 12 and below to resume work from December 1, 2021 following the suspension of work, which was a measure towards curtailing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus disease.

All Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Government Agencies and Extra-ministerial offices were also directed to make the contain of the circular known to their various staff and ensure strict compliance.

“It will be recalled that as part of the measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic, officers on Grade Level 12 and below were directed to work from home. Following the advice of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, this categories of officers are expected to resume duties on Wednesday, 1st December 2021”.

The circular further directed officers who are yet to be vaccinated to visit the Federal Staff Clinic, Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase I, and other designated centres to that effect.
