Anambra airport kicks off commercial flight operations Oct. 30

365Daily – Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State is set to celebrate the completion of what is regarded as the topmost legacy project of his government, the Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport, Umueri.

The brand new airport will on Saturday, October 30, 2021, be commissioned for commercial flight operations, according to the state government.

This was contained in an invitation to the event released on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, signed by Uzuegbuna Okagbue, Deputy Chief of Staff/Chief of Protocol to the Governor of Anambra State.

Okagbue requested Anambra people to “Come and witness this epoch making event as Anambra state enters a new era of economic development and prosperity.”

The airport, according to state government information, was constructed in 15 months purely with government resources without any loan.

An elated Governor Obiano, expressed appreciation to the regulatory authorities for helping his government actualize the dream.

Obiano said, “I thank the management team of the various regulatory agencies including Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and others for their support in making the Anambra airport project a reality”.

The governor also thanked the people of Anambra for their support in making the airport a reality thus:

“I want to thank the good people of Anambra state who have kept faith with my administration. I am happy that I and my team have been able to deliver on the airport project and in record time.

“We give all glory to the almighty God. We have once again shown our resilient Anambra spirit. I believe that with the commencement of commercial activities at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, and soon-to-be launched 10,000 capacity Anambra International Convention Centre, Anambra state is entering a new era of economic development and prosperity”.
