365Daily – A Kaduna court has sentenced one David Kingsley to four months in jail for hacking into people’s Facebook account.
Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna, gave the judgement on Thursday, September 9, 2021.
This was sequel to the fraud and impersonation charges brought against the convict by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Office, which he pleaded guilty to.
Counsel to the EFCC, A. A. Onyenoho, had informed the court that the convict was arrested in a sting operation following intelligence on his alleged involvement in cybercrime.
He added that investigations revealed that the convict fraudulently hacked into the Facebook accounts of unsuspecting persons and used them for fraudulent schemes.
Onyenoho stressed that the offence contravened Section 308 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.
In addition to the jailterm, Justice Khobo gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine and warned him to desist from further crimes.
