365Daily – Gombe State Government has imposed a 24 hour curfew on some communities in the state over violent  communal clashes.

The curfew, which is with immediate effect, affects Nyuwar, Jessu, Heme, Yolde Gelentuku, Sikam, Wala-Lunguda and environs.

This was sequel to renewed communal violence that erupted between Lunguda and Waja ethnic groups in Balanga Local Government Area, a statement issued on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, by the Director General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Uba Misilli, disclosed.

He said the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, made the announcement after the clashes erupted earlier Tuesday.

Misilli further quoted the SSG as saying the curfew became necessary to restore peace and order in the affected areas.

“Security personnel have been deployed to restore normalcy while the curfew will subsist until further notice,” the statement added.
