Anambra 2021: Ozigbo emerges PDP candidate

Immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has been declared winner of the a parallel primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka, Anambra State.

Ozigbo polled 62 votes to defeat eight other contenders that contested the party’s ticket yesterday, Saturday, June 26, 2021

Announcing the results, the head of the electoral panel, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu said: “Ozigbo polled a total of 62 votes to win the primary.

“He led his nearest contender, Dr Obiora Okonkwo, who scored 58 votes and Senator Uche Ekwunife who polled 44 votes.”

With his victory, Ozigbo will contend at the November 6 election against former Central Bank Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and Andy Uba both of the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the ruling party at the national level, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Out of the 16 aspirants who obtained the PDP nomination and declaration of interest forms, 12 aspirants were present at the venue and participated in the voting process.
