365Daily – Hundreds of protesting Ijaw youths have blocked the entrance of the headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The activities of the protesters, who are members of the Ijaw Youths Council, caused a traffic gridlock in the agency’s area of the Eastern By-Pass in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Brandishing the Green-Red-Blue IYC flag, they said they were calling for a substantive board for the agency.

Assistant Secretary of IYC, Eastern Zone, Ibiso Harry, was quoted as saying the action was directed by the IYC President, Peter Igbifa, following the expiration of the deadline given to the Federal Govermment to constitute a substantive board for the NDDC.

As at the time of filing this report, a team of policemen with security vehicles were seen at the scene monitoring events.

The protesting youths said they will keep protesting untill their request is met.
